32. THE ULTIMATE CONSPIRACY THEORY


It surprises me. Brennock claims he is not a conspiracy theorist. Common sense and intelligent application of same, plus a modicum of education in the sciences dictate that conspiracies are usually concocted and promoted by individuals lacking in these very qualifications.

But, he says, consider the following.

"Years ago, I met and worked with Steve Jobs, Apple's wonder boy. He had not yet created the Apple Empire, and was hot on the trail of numerous concepts, any one of which could have (and eventually did) revolutionize our ideas about computer programming.

"Among other things, he was convinced there was a major conspiracy amongst the military/industrial/oil intelligentsia to create secret enclaves at various secure places around the globe that could, in the case of overwhelming national emergency, house enough of the top minds in these organizations to ensure the survival of the human race. He was convinced that we were/are on a one-way crash trajectory to species suicide, and that there were forces in motion attempting to create these supposed survival camps.

"To make a long story short, he had been approached by --- to develop security programs for such installations. Remember, this was in 1991, and we were only beginning to think in terms off the hugely sophisticated systems we take for granted, and complain about, today.

"He obtained security clearance that allowed him access to some of the countries top secret military sites, including - are you ready for this? - Area 51"

"An interesting note is that he possessed an eidetic memory, a fact that he forgot to mention and kept to himself most of his life, so that he was ideally equipped to see a lot of the equipment that was in development by various industrial/military research groups. In short, he memorized everything he saw, un-benounced to any of his employers.

"During the early 1990's, and as recently as 2005, he was able to enter Area 51 quite freely, on the basis of his credentials as one of the world's best informed computer technologists.

"Thus, Jobs had unrestricted access to the remains of the Roswell Spacecraft, and he made a thorough investigation of its operating systems. And he came away with an understanding of the phenomenal alien technology.

"One of the results is what we now know as the touch screen. Needless to say, most of his other related "i" inventions were based on similar technology he discovered in Area 51.

"That he was allowed to use his knowledge so openly indicates that he was, right up to his death, involved in transcribing certain aspects of the alien secrets into our every day lives. He was, in fact, encouraged to do so.

"So why do I call this a conspiracy theory?" you ask?

"Simple. It's not that he had access to top government secrets so much as that he is very much involved in the above mentioned programs to ensure survival of our species. As a top computer designer, he wanted to build basic communication systems that will survive whatever disaster is foreseen by his 'associates'. In other words, he hoped to save as many of us as he could in the only way he knew how.

"As to what other measures are being taken, we can only speculate. I have a few ideas gleaned from other sources that I will discuss later."

NB: Jobs used the acronym Everet J. Bose throughout his teens and early adult life. He spent two months working at a small factory in Wyoming owned by Bose Audio. This seems to be his only connection to the Bose company. Some of his early identification included a driver's licence issued in 1987, bearing this name.

IDENTITY, OR WHERE EGOS, ERGOES.

What is identity? What is ego? Who are you? Who am I? What is consciousness? Where is the bathroom? Is the toilet lid up or down?
Quite naturally, we respond to the outside world from an internalized point of view. We see through our own eyes that the rest of the entire known universe surrounds us, and with our own special ego we perceive ourself to be at the center of it all.
All right: so what is it that makes us think so highly of ourselves? And why can’t you understand that you are simply a figment of my imagination?
Think of that first small spark, that tiny impulse that triggered the neural pathway through your brain. Perhaps the one that designated a colour, say red. When it travelled along that pathway, it used up energy, thus generating chemical traces inside your brain cells. It was an impulse of electricity that those neurons actually felt. Subsequently, every time you saw red, you ‘felt’ the same reaction, along the same neural pathway. It was a physical (an electro-chemical) phenomena.
Consider that at any given micro-moment there are several billion similar 'patterned' reactions going on inside your brain and your body. Included in those reactions are the acts of seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, walking, talking, making love, laughing, farting, and thinking and remembering about walking, talking, making love, laughing, farting, etc., etc. These are all electro-chemical processes, even the ones directing physical movement of your muscles. The extremely complex sum total of all these electro-chemical reactions to external and internal stimuli allow you to be you, and create the overall sensation of being yourself. And this grows, or evolves, according to perfectly natural and normal pre-programming!
That’s all there is to it, I promise.

We mistakenly interpret intelligence as an evolutionary advantage.
It's a crock.

Millennia ago, when we lived in the forests, or in caves, or whatever, we survived by brute force. The strongest males took all the attractive women and bred like the animals they were. Survival of the fittest was always a psychopathic tendency to dominate, to kill, to exterminate the weakest. P

We are still basically a race of psychopaths. We are much better at disguising it nowadays, having painted ourselves a thin veneer of respectability. But essentially, we are not that far out of the caves.

Some of us have dreams. Some of us have devised, and try to utilize, advanced technology. But there are still masses of dolts still around who will forever drag the entire society down into their weedy pits, blowing each other up, basically because of their ridiculous religious beliefs.

Religion is the antithesis of sensible, intelligent behaviour. Psychopathy breeds in our idiocy, our discontent, and thus rules.

Intelligence has very little to do with it. ,,

I have very little faith in our race's ability to survive much past this century. Maybe, this decade.

Carl Sagan, amongst others, tried to tell us that there are billions of solar systems in our own galaxy, let alone the billions of other galaxies, in which there must be literally billions of other 'intelligent' species with thriving, advanced civilizations. So how come we have yet to discover a single one of them?
Partly, of course, it has to do with distance, and simultaneity. The odds of any two such civilizations being close together in both space and time are extremely low, at least in our part of the galaxy. Towards the galactic center it may be much different. Even so, if evolution demands psychopathy for its existence, then perhaps it is inevitable that most of those civilizations destroy themselves, and their home planets, very soon after discovering fossil fuel.

Possibly the civilized societies that do survive are so unlike ours that we would not recognize them if we saw them. Do ants recognize cetaceans? I don't think the sc-fi writers have it right yet. Arthur C. Clarke and a handful of others, maybe.

Enough. I'm going to sleep, and I will dream of those little known electric sheep. Or a perhaps a Dyson sphere.


PS No, I don't play golf anymore, but I enjoyed it when I did. I used to get very high scores.

PPS Is golf in the Bible? I doubt it. The Book is mostly about people with beards and dressed in longish smocks knocking each other off, isn't it? Not even good sc-fi, if I remember. A lot of Israelites wandering about the course as well. It's all been done before. If God made this mess in the first place, then we're really screwed ... the handicap is out of site ...

On a more positive note, future evolution involves self-replicating AI. This would imply a very sophisticated type of (future) species, probably quite small individuals, maybe nanotechs in hive like agglomerations, travelling the cosmos in FTL ships ... no wonder we don't see much of them.

They/IT, the ultimate AI, will of course take over our planet, and will become the relevant (future) species. We will have thus replaced ourselves. It's inevitable.
